Hairdresser in Amsterdam, always one on one
Looking for a hairdresser in Amsterdam who really takes the time to listen? At Heb je Haar weer you always have my full attention, in a calm garden studio in De Baarsjes, Amsterdam West. I'm Muriël Emilie, and for more than 10 years I've specialised in highlights, balayage and toners, and in colouring and cutting medium-length and long hair.
Finding a new hair salon in a city that isn't your own can feel like a bit of a gamble. That's why I like to start with a conversation. Tell me about your hair and what you'd love to change, in English, and I'll tell you honestly what's possible. You'll know what to expect before your appointment, with a fixed price that always includes toner, Olaplex and a blow dry.

IN ENGLISH
An English speaking hairdresser in Amsterdam
Explaining what you want from your hair is hard enough in your own language. With me, you can simply do it in English. Before I pick up a brush, we sit down and look at your hair together: how it falls, what your natural colour is, what you'd like to change and how much time you want to spend on it at home. Bring your inspiration photos, and I'll tell you honestly what will work for your hair and what won't, so there are no surprises when you look in the mirror.
Not sure where to start? Then begin with the online intake. Send me a photo of the front and back of your hair in daylight, plus one or two inspiration pictures. On working days you'll receive a price indication and a link to book via WhatsApp on the same day. Most of my website is in Dutch, but you're very welcome to fill in the intake and send your messages in English.
FIRST VISIT
What can you expect at your first appointment?
Every appointment starts with a consultation, so we're on the same page before anything happens. Then I apply your highlights or balayage with foils and a mild lightener. Healthy hair matters to me just as much as a beautiful result, which is why Olaplex is included in every colour treatment. After lightening, I apply a toner matched to your skin type, so the colour brightens your face instead of working against it.
I work with O&M, a vegan Australian brand, with Olaplex and with Moroccanoil. I spent years as an account manager for these brands, so I know them inside out. You always leave with a signature blow dry and personal hair tips, so you know how to keep your hair looking good at home. Please come with clean hair, washed the same day or one or two days before, and without dry shampoo, texture spray, volume powder or hairspray.

CALM AND QUIET
Looking for a hair salon in Amsterdam without the rush?
There is only ever one client in my salon at a time, and I see a maximum of two clients a day. No other customers, no phones ringing all the time, no hairdryers buzzing around you and no waiting. All my attention goes to you and your hair, and I never have to hurry. Clients often call it an oasis of calm in Amsterdam, which is exactly how I want it to feel.
A treatment takes about 3.5 hours on average, and you can easily keep working for at least 2.5 hours of that time. So bring your laptop and turn your hair appointment into a quiet day of working, without having to take time off. Would you rather chat? Lovely. Prefer to work in silence or simply do nothing at all? That's just as fine with me. Many clients tell me the time flies by.

LOW MAINTENANCE
Highlights and balayage with soft regrowth
My speciality is Low Maintenance or Dimensional Haircolor. Instead of colouring all of your hair in one shade, I place lighter strands between your own colour. Your natural base stays visible, so the regrowth is soft and you won't see a hard line at the roots after a few weeks. That means fewer trips to the salon, which is nice when your calendar is already full. You can read more, in Dutch, on my page about highlights in Amsterdam.
Starting to see grey hairs? You don't have to switch to full colouring straight away. With grey blending, I don't cover the grey but let it blend into your highlights, for a softer look that grows out gently. Coming from dark permanent hair dye? Then a colour correction is usually the way to go, and I'll make a step-by-step plan with you first. Have a look at my before and after photos to see real results from the salon.
ABOUT ME
Meet Muriël Emilie
Calm, health and balance are important to me, in life and in my work. That's why I deliberately chose a small salon where I work one on one. I love yoga, reading and podcasts about hair, positive parenting and health, and I'm always happy to share what I learn while you're in my chair.
"I look forward to getting to know you and making your hair beautiful, because that's when I'm at my best!"

THE SALON
Your hair salon in Amsterdam West
Heb je Haar weer is a cosy studio in my garden at Admiralengracht 56H, 1057 GA Amsterdam, in the De Baarsjes neighbourhood of Amsterdam West. I work alone, so you always know who will be doing your hair. From other parts of the city it's easy to reach by bike, tram or car.
You can see all available times in my online booking calendar. Coming by car? Paid parking applies in the area from Monday to Saturday. Give me your licence plate when you arrive and I'll register it for a reduced rate. And if you'd like to ask something first, you can always send me a WhatsApp message, in English of course.
Questions about my hair salon in Amsterdam
Do you speak English?
Yes. Your consultation, intake and appointment can all be in English. Most of my website is in Dutch, but you're welcome to fill in the intake form and send your WhatsApp messages in English, and I'll reply in English too.
How much does a colour treatment cost?
I work with fixed prices: the Mini is 180 euros (2.5 hours), the Full touch up 215 euros (3 hours) and the Transformational 270 euros (3 hours and 45 minutes). Olaplex, toner, a blow dry and personal hair tips are always included. For extra long, thick or dark hair, extra light results or a lot of grey, expect around 30 euros more on average. You can add a haircut for 35 euros.
How do I book an appointment?
If you already know which treatment you'd like, you can book straight into my online calendar. Not sure yet? Send the online intake with a few photos of your hair, and on working days you'll get a price indication and a booking link via WhatsApp on the same day. My calendar is often fully booked a few weeks ahead, so it helps to plan early.
How long does an appointment take?
On average about 3.5 hours, of which you can work for at least 2.5 hours. If you add a haircut, allow an extra half hour. Because there's only one client in the salon, you can work, read or relax in peace.
Do you also cut hair?
Yes, I specialise in colouring and cutting medium-length and long hair. You can add a cut to any colour treatment for 35 euros, which adds about half an hour to your appointment.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please let me know at least 72 hours in advance via the link in your confirmation email. With less than 72 hours' notice I charge 25% of the treatment price, and 50% if you don't let me know at all. Once a year you can reschedule or cancel at no cost.
Where can I park?
Paid parking applies in the area from Monday to Saturday. Give me your licence plate when you arrive and I'll register you for a reduced rate of 1.85 euros instead of 5.30 euros per hour.
